Palo Santo is a mystical tree that grows near the coast of South America and is related to frankincense, myrrh, and copal. In Spanish, the name translates to "Sacred Wood - Tree of Life."

Palo Santo is traditionally used to purify bacteria from the air and especially to remove bad energies from spaces. It is also commonly used to relieve colds, flu symptoms, stress, asthma, headaches, anxiety, depression, inflammation, emotional pain and more.

We work with an indigenous family from the Chiclayo region of Northern Peru who have been stewards of the native Palo Santo habitat for hundreds of years. They ethically harvest naturally fallen trees that have aged on the ground for at least 3-5 years, while also replanting the trees in the wild. It is within this aging process that the protective and mystical resins are developed. They also work with government agencies in Peru who protect and assist in reforestation of this precious and ancient tree. We would only support the most ethical processing of this tree, so we are proud to directly support a family who have been stewards of these lands for generations.

Please note that most of the Palo Santo you see at the market is not ethically harvested from naturally fallen and dead trees, nor does it directly support indigenous families to receive living wages

How to use: Use a candle, match, or lighter to light your Palo Santo stick. Hold it at about a 45 degree angle with the tip pointing downward toward the flame. Let it burn for about 30 seconds to 1 minute, then blow it out. When you are finished purifying the space you wish to purify, place the smoldering stick in a fireproof bowl made of metal, glass, or clay. The stick will naturally extinguish. Always be careful and respectful when working with fire.
